Update: Impact of Local Fires - Ensuring Safety and Support

Good Evening REAL Journey Academies Families and Staff,

REAL Journey Academies include:

  • The Journey School, 25560 Alessandro Blvd, Moreno Valley, CA 92553
  • iEmpire Academy, 2050 Pacific St, San Bernardino, CA 92404
  • New Vision Middle School, 26655 Highland Ave, Highland, CA 92346
  • Entrepreneur High San Bernardino, 26655 Highland Ave, Highland, CA 92346
  • Entrepreneur High Fontana, 7775 Sierra Ave., Fontana, CA 92336

We are taking proactive measures to ensure everyone's safety during this challenging time:

  • All schools will operate on an inclement weather schedule.
  • All outdoor physical activities are canceled to protect students and staff.
  • For schools using swamp coolers, we have turned them off to prevent outdoor air from entering our buildings.
  • To improve indoor air quality, we have increased fan speeds and opened certain doors to help ventilate any lingering smoke.
  • Large fans will run in the atriums of our high school and middle school in the Highland area for several hours this evening.
  • We are providing KN95 face masks for students and staff who choose to wear them.
  • Air conditioning units have been adjusted to maintain a safer indoor environment.
  • At our Fontana location, we are reviewing the flow of our lunch lines to reduce the need to open doors and minimize smoke exposure.

We understand that some of our families and staff may be directly impacted by these fires, and we want you to prioritize your safety and well-being. Please make the best decisions for your circumstances, especially if you live in an evacuated area. We are here to support you in any way we can during this difficult time.

We are hopeful, along with local officials, that a shift in atmospheric pressure expected tomorrow evening may lead to improved air quality. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as needed.

Our thoughts are with our brave first responders and everyone affected by these fires. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and each other.

Respectfully,
Dr. Rose Ann Bomentre
Superintendent
