Amy Duffney

Special Programs Program Specialist

My first job in the school district was as an Instructional Assistant. I worked my way up to an Instructional Assistant Level 2. Once in a program, I started substitute teaching in both Special Education and General Education. I wasa  Non-Public teacher for 3 years before I was hired with my first district as a Special Education Teacher. I started my journey with RJA in 2013. I worked my way up from a Special Education Teacher to a Lead Teacher to a Program Specialist. I have mentored for 3 years as an Induction Coach as well. I have a clear credential and a Master's Degree. I plan on obtaining my Administrative Credential soon.

I am the mother of 2 boys, aged 20 and 15. My oldest is pursuing a career as an Electrician. My youngest recently earned his driver's permit and started his first job as a food runner at a local restaurant. I play softball in an adult Co-ed league on the weekends and enjoy camping and riding dirtbikes with my boys and friends. We have 3 dogs (1 Boxer and 2 Pugs).

I love working with the students at RJA. I have the opportunity to work with Elementary, Middle, and High School. Mostly my job is training staff and paperwork, but I really enjoy it when I get to interact with students. When I was in the classroom, it was amazing to see my students grow academically. It made my day when they would light up because they were able to learn and retain a concept they had been struggling with.
